DAY 2 . . .

These girls are part of a preseason list of some great players to watch-it's not a ranking. It's a way to honor Florida high school girls around the state & help grow the game.

CAROLINE STEFANS, Senior 2-way Middie from Saint Thomas Aquinas who is headed to the United States Naval Academy to serve her Country and kill it in lacrosse. FIRST-Thank you for serving Caroline! --God Bless Caroline! and God Bless America! Caroline is an incredible lacrosse player and person.  She has overcome an ACL injury and after taking her junior year to recover, Caroline is back strong and is ready to lead STA all the way to States.  She's an amazing draw specialist and scoring threat and tough defender.  Caroline Stefans is a player that is going to be super fun to watch this year!!  She is brave, patriotic and a hero!

HELAINA HARRIS, Junior Goalie from Ranson Everglades and is committed to Northwestern University.  Helaina is one of the best and most exciting goalies to watch in the country. She ranked number Thirty in the Nation in save percentage with almost 62%.  She had 142 saves last year.  She was a US Lacrosse All-American and ranked First on her team in caused turnovers(the good kind of turnovers).  She is an active and talented goalie that will be worth watching!

RACHEL WEINER, Sophomore Attack from North Broward Prep.  Rachel is a stud!  As a freshman, she broke her school's records for most goals and assists! She is one of the Top 2022 attackers in Florida and already some fantastic schools have their eyes on Rachel.  She is a huge threat on offense and little lax attackers will enjoy watching Rachel play!

JORDAN REMER, Senior Defensive Captain at American Heritage Delray playing lacrosse at the University of Cincinnati in the fall.  One of/if not the BEST defender in the South! You may not think defense is exciting, but Jordan is exciting to watch!  AND-she is a wicked, crazy smart defender.  Defenders have to be smart! Jordan is quick and will scoop up any ground ball that comes her way.  She can read the offense, communicates with her team mates, knows when to slide or call for a slide and she even has a wicked shot as a defender.  She has great stick skills and is huge on transitions. Even if your not a defensive fan-Jordan is one of the best players you could watch this season!

ELLIE GRIFFIN, Junior Middie/Defense from Buchholz High School committed to Campbell University. In the Regional playoffs, Ellie scored five clutch goals.  Ellie is a player who has and will lead her team and rise to the occassion. Ellie was name to the Sun Sentinel's first team in Gainesville and had impressive stats last year:  77 goals with 24 assists; 101 points, 126 draw controls, eleven caused turnovers and 53 groundballs; AND Ellie is the all-time draw control leader at Buchholz with 178.

SOFIA CHEPENIK, Sophomore Attack/Mid at the Episcopal School of Jacksonville.  Sophia, at 5'11" is obviously a draw control specialist and finished her freshman year with an unbelievable 120 draw controls.  She is following in the footsteps of her older sister Stella who was #1 in the State in goals scored last year.  Sofia was ranked 21st in the state with 61 goals scored as a freshman last year.  She had 35 assists for a total of 96 points which is exceptional for her fresheman year.  She will step in where her sister left off.  North FL laxers will love watching Sofia play.

BECKY AIELLO, Junior from Jupiter high school.  Becky has been a leader in scoring and draw controls at her Jupiter HS since she stepped on the field as a freshman.  She's fast and tenancious on the draw and on ground balls. Her quickness pays off not just in running players down on the field, but her speed enables her to cause many turnovers with her accurate back checks.  Becky is still deciding on colleges and will be a secret weapon for the school that picks her up!

SANDY EDWARDS, Senior Midfield at Jensen Beach High School who will be leading the charge at the Universtiy of Central Michigan this fall.  Sandy is one of the greatest kids you'll ever meet. There's much more to her than just a great lacrosse player.  She competed last summer on the Chinese U-19 team at the World Championship and led in stats for part of the tournament.  Sandy has great stick skills which have come from hours spent playing wall ball and practicing in her yard.  Sandy is fun to watch play-you'll probably see a BTB (Behind the Back) pass or shot from her because she loves the game and it's creativity.

JULIA BACKENSTRASS, Sophomore middie from Boca High School.  Julia led the entire sophomore class in the state of Florida in goals last year with 74.  She had 44 ground balls and 79 points.  If you want to see a FAST player-go watch Julia!  Her speed on the field is amazing.  She also has quickness on defense that can shut an opponent down.  She was a standout as a Freshman and surely will be incredible as a sophomore.  Colleges are already excited about her speed, skills and athletism.

REGAN ALEXANDER, Senior Goalie from Lake Highland Preparatory School going to the Ohio State University.  Regan is an amazing goalie!  She had 12 saves in the game leading up to her team winning the State Championship last year.  Regan is active and exciting to watch play.  She comes out of cage, intercepts passes and has a great reaction time on shots.  Regan is a force to be reckoned with when any team plays LHP.  The opponents had better make her dance or they will not be scoring many, if any goals!  If you meet Regan-she's as sweet as pie, yet is a bulldog or I should say a buckeye on the field!  She is a fixture on the Lake Highland team and they are going to miss her when she's at OSU!
